Intermediate Engineer/Designer - Calgary
Location: Calgary, AB

Job Description and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage Mechanical engineering projects
  • Assist in the Engineering and design of the mechanical systems of projects we are working on (HVAC, Plumbing, Drainage and Fire Protection)
  • Prepare contract drawings, plans, schematics, detail, schedules, and specifications from initial concepts through to construction
  • Select equipment based on calculated loads
  • Design layout of pipe and duct runs in co-ordination with the structural, electrical and architectural components, limitations and interferences
  • Perform detailed review of layouts and services for continuity and completeness prior to issuing documents
  • Perform computer aided drafting and modelling using REVIT MEP and AutoCAD MEP
  • Prepare drawings from sketches, mark-ups and/or design briefs
  • Perform sizing of duct and pipe services in accordance with office standards
  • Develop details and layouts of mechanical rooms and service spaces
  • Prepare responses to RFIs and issue Site Instructions
  • Prepare load calculations using Trace 700
  • Attend design and construction meetings as required

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or certificate in an engineering technology program
  • Three or more years of experience in a mechanical, building systems, consulting engineering environment
  • Familiarity with the Alberta Building Code, National Plumbing Code, and NECB is an asset
  • Experience with High-Rise Residential, Commercial and/or Institutional buildings
  • Proficiency in Revit is a requirement
  • LEED Accreditation and familiarity with LEED documentation is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Trace 700
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office (Word and Excel)
  • Must be self motivated and work well within a team setting
